He won his first major title in 1983 at the European Championship of Juniors in the discipline 14.1. In 1986 he made it for the first time in the final of the men's pool European Championship in the 8-ball. One year later, he became the first ever European champion of the men; this time in the 9-ball. Another year later, he successfully defended his title in this discipline. There were two other European Championship victories in the 8-Ball (1990) and 14.1 (1999), as well as numerous other front placements. In addition, he became the 9-ball European champion of senior citizens and vice-European champion in the 8-Ball.
His most successful career so far, however, is second place at the 9-Ball World Championship in 1996, which took place in his hometown Borlange. In the final, however, he was defeated by the German Ralf Souquet. In 1994 he had already made it into the semifinals of the World Cup.
Storm also won five tournament victories as well as three other final draws during the Euro tour.
He also represented Europe at the Mosconi Cup in 1994 and 1995.
His nickname in the billiard scene is Hurricane.
